Former soccer athletes and fans of the game came out for this exciting annual tradition at
Bateman Park as the UFV men’s and women’s alumni soccer teams challenged the UFV Cascades.
Congratulations go to the men’s varsity team for the 1-0 win over the alumni team.
Afterward alumni soccer players and the varsity team enjoyed a social at the post-game reception at Cheers Bar and Grill in Abbotsford. This annual tradition provides a great opportunity to former players to come together in a fun game and meet the current varsity team members.
Afterhours @ The ReachThis successful inaugural event launch was organized and coordinated by UFV alumni
Eduardo Dioses (BFA ’09), Tomas Bingham (BA ’08), and Suneet Mondair (AA ’05) and
sponsored by the UFfV Alumni Association.
The well attended evening engaged and educated young adults about the history of
the region and the art showcased in The Reach’s current exhibition.

About the organizers:Eduardo Dioses received his BFA in ’09 and was hired as art educator (research and development) at The Reach. In September he moved to Capilano University to study digital animation. Suneet mondair graduated from UFV with an Associate of Arts degree in ’05 before moving on to complete her BA in sociology at UVic in ’08. She spent the summer of 2009 as cultural programs assistant at The Reach, and then returned to Victoria
to finish a second degree in women’s studies. Tomas Bingham finished his BA at UFV in 2008. This summer he worked as cultural programs assistant at The Reach. He began his MA in history at York University in September.
EventsAccounting alumni mentorship eventThe Alumni Association partnered with the Career Centre this fall to bring UFV alumni accountants to campus to help UFV accounting students stand out in their field. Alumni shared their insights one-on-one concerning CACEE/resume critique, interviews, and networking, all in preparation for the third annual fast forward Fraser Valley Accounting night held at the end of September.
Alumni Appreciation basketball game —
Jan 9, 2010The Alumni Association, in partnership with the UFV Athletics department, is hosting the second annual alumni evening of basketball on Jan 9, 2010. UFV alumni are invited to come together in the mezzanine of the Envision lobby for an exciting and free night of pizza, beer, basketball and in-game promotions.
