UFV Cascades earn CCAA National Bronze Medal at Golf Championship, in PEI

UFV Cascades earn PACWest Silver Medal and trip to CCAA National Championship

The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades men’s golf team finished third at the 2011 CCAA national golf championships in Charlottetown, PEI. The Cascades finished the two-day event with a team score of 613, 26 strokes behind the two-time champion Humber College Hawks (Ontario).

The host Holland College Hurricanes (Maritimes) finished second with a score of 609. The Cascades have earned a CCAA national golf medal in four of the past five national championships.



The Cascades were led by Aaron Pauls, Chilliwack, BC who finished fourth with a two-day score of 149, Pauls was the only Cascade to finish in the CCAA top ten and was named an All-Canadian. 


This was Mitch Lock's, Mission, BC  fifth and final year in the CCAA. In his 5 years, UFV have been on the podium at 4 National Championships,and have never finished worse than 2nd in the PACWest.

'"This was a group of guys who pulled together when they were down and fought for each other all day. It was not easy out there, but the boys rallied when they needed it most," said Chris Bertram, Head Coach.


"This was supposed to be a rebuilding year for our team with 6 new faces on the roster so to finish on the podium at the National Champioship is pretty satisfying to say the least. The program is in very good hands moving forward."
