Meal Plan Option for Students Meal plans offer a convenient alternative when you’re busy on the go, and the best part is, a meal plan will save you time, and money. Meal plans are tax exempt which means you save 12% HST each time a meal is purchased at one of the following on campus foodservice locations; Abbotsford campus - Cascade cafeteria, Road Runner cafe, and Clikz (Tim Horton’s); Chilliwack campus - Chilliwack cafeteria.

How does it work? Select the meal plan that works for you (plans are listed below). Meal plans are prepaid by adding money to the dining fund on your Campus Card. The dining fund operates as a declining balance. Plans are only valid for a specified time and are subject to administration fees thereafter as listed below in the fine print section of each plan.
How do I get started on a meal plan? To be eligible you must have a Campus Card and be registered as a student in the current semester. Getting started is easy; simply choose your meal plan listed below, contact the Campus Card office to register, and add monies to the dining fund on your Campus Card.

Validation: meal plans are only valid for a period of 30 days to be eligible for the 12% HST tax exemption and to comply with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) tax exemption guidelines.

Purchased amounts: CRA requires meal plans to be purchased in one lump sum, transferring of monies between card funds is not allowed, meal plans cannot be “topped up”.

Prorated: meal plans cannot be prorated throughout the semester.

Changed your mind: no worries, funds can be transferred into the Cascade account and can be used at any participating retailer on campus (taxes will apply to purchased amounts), no admin fee applies when changes are made within the first two weeks of classes.

Remaining balances: at the end of 30 days balances of less than $25.00 are forfeited; remaining balances of greater than $25.00 will be charged a $25.00 admin fee to transfer amounts into the Cascade fund which can be used at any participating retailer on campus (taxes will apply to purchased amounts), sorry, no refunds. Monies transferred into the Cascade fund that are inactive for six months are charged a $25.00 admin fee. Admin fees apply every six months to cards that are inactive until the fund balance reaches zero. Depleted accounts will be closed. |
