Instrumental analysis/applied spectroscopy

CALENDAR DESCRIPTION:

An introduction to instrumental analysis with the emphasis on spectroscopic methods. Lecture material covers principles of experiments illustrate lecture material.

COURSE PREREQUISITES:

CHEM  213 and 214.

COURSE CONTENT:
  • Data and sample handling;
  • Principles of chromatography;
  • Atomic spectra. AAS;
  • Electronic spectra. UV/Vis spectroscopy;
  • Vibrational spectra. IR and Raman spectroscopy;
  • Principles of NMR;
  • Principles of mass spectroscopy;
