Basic Welding: Sheilded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
This is an introductory course designed for the beginner and also for those wanting to improve current knowledge and skills for employment. Topics include all-position welding with most common electrodes and the safe operation of oxy-fuel cutting equipment. It is strongly recommended for Agriculture students and is a good introduction to the welding trade for those considering the full-time certificate program. Fee includes supplies and gloves. You must wear cotton or wool clothing, coveralls, safety boots, hearing protection, and safety glasses. Text: P4 Welding Manual, available at UFV bookstore, approximately $35.
