Events are an important part of our personal, community, and corporate lives. Every day, in every community, people gather for big conferences, small parties, black-tie fundraising dinners, business retreats, weddings, or expos. And whether they sip champagne, coffee, or Gatorade, they expect the event they’re attending to be organized and entertaining. That’s where your flair for fine detail, take-charge personality, and enthusiasm could win the day. Sample topics include:

  • Event planning and logistics
  • Business management and accounting skills
  • Marketing and public relations
  • Basics of food handling, beverage serving, and housekeeping management

To put theory into practice, students participate in a four-week practicum in the workplace.

Graduates are fully equipped to coordinate functions in the growing hospitality industry and to work in a variety of fields such as:

  • Large Corporations
  • Small businesses
  • Hotels and resorts
  • Destination marketing organizations
  • Tour companies
  • Food and beverage outlets
  • Convention centres
  • Banquet facilities

  • High school graduation or equivalent  (or a letter from your school stating you will graduate)
  • Successful completion of math and reading entrance exam

UFV Current Newsroom Feed

The decision to quit my job and go to university was scary at first, but the UFV Hospitality Event Planning program set me up for career success.

I gained the skills, knowledge, and confidence to be able to succeed in the event planning industry. I would not be where I am today without the program.
