Hockey games at the AE&SC
Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday
March 2, 3, 5, & 6, 2010

These games will directly impact anyone planning to travel to and/or park on the Abbotsford campus for classes on those evenings. Traffic will be congested and we will be actively managing our parking both to accommodate university needs and to make our unused space available to event patrons.

For evening classes these nights, the following management will be in place:

  • Lots 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 are protected for university use only, for students (with valid student ID cards) and employees (with valid parking passes or employee ID cards). This ID is necessary to verify your right to access the parking areas designated exclusively for university use. See link below for map with marked lots.
  • On event nights, designated parking for women is provided in Lots 6 and 7.
  • Students in need of security are reminded to call 604-504-7441 local 5050 or for immediate assistance call 604 768 0279.
  • On event evenings, students who carpool, park for free. Carpooling students (min. two per vehicle) will be granted free parking (starting at 4:30 pm) in lots 7 and 10. Enter from MacKenzie Road.
  • T o avoid event traffic, arrive to campus early; use the alternate campus entrances off MacKenzie Road for entry to Lots 6-10. Use College Way for entry to Lots 1 and 2. (Those parked in Lot 1 and 2 may experience traffic congestion upon campus departure.)
  • University traffic arriving after 4:30 pm may be redirected to the exclusive lots for students and employees.
  • Those already legitimately parked in Lots 2, 2A, 4 and 5 on event evenings are not required to move their vehicle. At 7 pm all unoccupied university parking space will be made available to event patrons.
  • Vigorous enforcement of all parking regulations will be in effect.
  • Use extra caution. Consider pedestrian safety and visibility conditions in your drive to campus. Event nights involve different pedestrian movements from what we are normally used to.

From time to time, the new Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre will host events that may cause traffic congestion in and around the Abbotsford campus of the University of the Fraser Valley.  We will post information about those events to this page in advance wherever possible.

To avoid the congestion, if you are driving, you may wish to consider entering campus from the McKenzie Rd. access roads on those days.  If you carpool (two or more students in a vehicle), note that UFV will often offer free parking in Lot #10 on those days. Remember to have your student card handy as proof of your student status.

To ease traffic flow around campus, UFV may make the parking lots closest to the complex (#4, 5, and 2) available for specific events at the AE&SC.  The revenue generated by doing this will go into a fund to improve parking facilities at the university. In those cases, university traffic will be directed to the other lots on campus (#6-10).   Additional security personnel will be present in all parking lots in those cases.

View or download campus map with lot numbers marked (PDF).

The university’s primary goal is to manage parking and traffic to ensure the best access to the university for students and employees.  When we have available parking space (as we do in the summer months and often on weekends during the rest of the year), we will make it available to the public as pay parking.  When events are on, active traffic and parking lot management will be in place.

Under no circumstances will UFV compromise student access to the university in favour of accommodating event parking.
