UFV on the web
UFV's main web site is now found at
www.ufv.ca. Our old site address (
www.ucfv.ca) has been redirected to this new domain. Over the coming weeks, Google will reindex our site to reflect this change.
Any "short-cut" or "redirect" (e.g.
www.ufv.ca/parking, which redirects to
(www.ufv.ca/Facilities/Parking.htm) that you have established should still function if you simply remove the "c". If you encounter difficulty with your redirects, please report it to
webmaster@ufv.ca.
Home page
Check out the new site design at
www.ufv.ca. You'll note that the feature image changes each time you revisit or refresh the page. (We've already been advised that there are no men featured: this was unintentional and will change in short order!) Do you have great shots of campus? Send them to the Marketing & Communications team and we may post them for all to see (pls ensure you have the permission to do so from any people in the image first).
Departmental pages
The outlying graphic elements on the departmental pages have changed with this reskin, but the size of the space available for content and the pagelets has not changed. As such, you should not have experienced much, if any, adjustments to page content when this update was implemented.
We have done a quick review of as many pages as we could (did you know that there are tens of thousands of pages on our web site?) to ensure that nothing problematic has occurred. If you do encounter problems related to the redesign, or wish to make adjustments to your graphic banner, please contact Marketing & Communications.
Content owners across the site are requested to scan their content for legacy "C"s and remove them as pages are updated.
Online Calendar
The Online Calendar will be reskinned on Sept 2 or thereabouts. No need to change any links to it as it's a visual rather than structural update.
Faculty pages
Faculty pages have generally been kept separate from the main ufv.ca look & feel, given that content is highly specific to each faculty member and often reflects their involvement at more than one institution. At this time, there is no plan to provide a consistent template for these pages. Should you have concerns, please contact Marketing & Communications.
myUFV
The portal has undergone a transformation at the same time as the main web site. Check it out at
http://my.ufv.ca and note the change in address.
UFVOnline
Log into Blackboard Campus Edition 8 (CE8) to experience the new environment that is UFV Online.
Updating web links on third-party sites
Boost the number of visits to the UFV site by sending notification to your colleagues who may need to update their links to your pages on the site.
Here's a sample message you can use as a guide:
Your site incorporates a link to the University College of the Fraser Valley (UCFV). As of Sept 1, 2008, we have become the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) and have introduced a new identity. Could you please make this update on your site?
Our new web url is
www.ufv.ca is now live and should replace any legacy links to
www.ucfv.ca .
If you have room for any accompanying text, please include the following statement:

Also attached is a transparent colour GIF that could be used to replace any UCFV graphic that you may currently have on your site.
