Internationalization Fund
A message on internationalization from VP Academic and Provost Dianne Common:
Dear Colleagues,
The world is increasingly characterized by its complexity, diversity and interconnectedness. These global realities require graduates to be internationally and interculturally competent to live and work effectively in an interdependent world. We have a policy for the internationalization of our university which has the following purposes:
- To equip students with sufficient knowledge to participate effectively as global citizens.
- To enable students to understand and make connections between global developments and the needs of their own communities.
- To equip students with the skills and competencies to function effectively at local and international levels.
- To support faculty, staff, and administration in their international/intercultural professional development and in their work with international and domestic students.
- To support faculty, staff, and administration in the development of programs, curricula, services and activities that will contribute to the internationalization of our university.
In the mid 1990s, we initiated an Internationalization Fund to enable faculty and staff to participate in activities that furthered the implementation of our internationalization policy. This fund has not been active since. The annual amount of the grant was $20,000, and individual applications were not to exceed $5,000.
In order to continue to support the development of activities that will further the internationalization of the university, I am pleased to reintroduce the UFV Internationalization Fund. By means of revenue generated from UFV International, funds will be allocated each year on a competitive basis. This year a total of $25,000 will be available in the form of assistance grants to undertake a range of activities to infuse an international dimension into the teaching, research, and community service functions of the university. Each year, as international revenue grows, we hope to see the fund increase.
The details, guidelines, and proposal format of the program can be found at: http://www.ufv.ca/ucc/IC/InternationalizationFund.htm
If you have any questions concerning the attached, please contact Karola Stinson or John Potts at UFV International.
Sincerely,
Dr. Dianne Common Vice-President (Academic) and Provost
