UFV Cascades men's basketball team takes to the road for playoffs

Winning five of their last six games has propelled the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades into the playoffs with an 11-7 league record.

One of only three Pacific division teams to qualify for playoffs, the Cascades travel to Saskatoon for a best of three quarterfinal series with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.

The Cascades beat the Huskies 80-78 at UFV in January.

"We know they are a different team on their home court but it was still nice to get that win during the season, as it gives our team confidence that we can have success if we play our game," says Cascades head coach Barnaby Craddock.

"Once you get to Canada West Playoffs, it's a whole new season, so we will embrace the role of underdogs on the road, and keep playing the same solid basketball as we have all second semester," he added.

The Huskies played a 20-game Prairie Division schedule and finished with a 14-6 record, good enough for second place and the right to host a quarterfinal series.

The series goes this Thursday night, February 25, at 7 pm, Friday Feb 26 at 7 pm, and Saturday Feb 27 at 7 pm (if necessary).

The three men's basketball Canada West quarterfinal games in Saskatchewan will have live stats and be webcast at http://www.educationcdn.com/schools/huskies

The winner of this quarterfinal between the Cascades and Huskies will advance to the Canada West men's basketball Final Four on March 5 and 6, which will be be held at the University of British Columbia.
