UFV students in India see red on Canada Day

Students of the University of the Fraser Valley's Canadian BBA degree program at SD College Chandigarh celebrated Canada Day in style yesterday by wearing red and cutting a giant Canada Flag cake at Silver in Sector 26. Students Shivjit Paintal, of Chandigarh, and Deepshikha Choudhary, of Kashipur, were named Mr. and Miss Canada.

UFV launched its highly practical, employer-designed Bachelor of Business Administration degree program at SD College Chandigarh in 2006. Now in its fourth year, this management degree is providing students with employability skills like no other university in India, in order to ensure they can launch their careers as new managers immediately upon graduation.

Rather than theory-based education that focuses on exams, UFV students use a case-based model and work in teams on projects for real companies, even from the first semester of BBA. Since 2006, students have completed projects for a long list of Indian firms and multinationals, including Aditya Birla Group, Kingfisher Air, Reliance, Tata Motors, Nike, Adidas, Hyundai Motors, Airtel, ICICI, IDS Infotech, Nokia, Bharat Petroleum, Cafe Coffee Day, Hot Millions, and many more. With more than 650 industry advisors guiding curriculum, the UFV BBA degree at SD College Chandigarh is providing students from India the best opportunity for an international standard of employability skills in management.

"By the end of second semester, my parents were surprised to see the changes in me," comments Seerat Bajwa, who attended YPS Patiala. "My confidence level has increased, and I am ready to compete with the world. I have enhanced my sales skills through campaigning for real clients, I am now proficient in handling customers, and have the capability to work individually as well as in team environment."

UFV has just a few seats left for the next batch, which starts on July 13th. Entrance criteria is 65%, with 65% in English. Professors, from Canada and from India, are hand-picked for their dynamic approach in the classroom and their professional experience as leaders in industry.

Students can complete the entire degree here in India, or transfer to UFV in Canada at any time after a minimum of one year at the Chandigarh campus. They save at least 65% while studying in India, as compared to fees as an international student in Canada.
