Mana leading the way for UFV’s future entrepreneurs
Hakon Fauske has a simple desire. He would like anyone with a great new idea, technology, or business venture to give him a call. Fauske and the professionals at Abbotsford-based Mana are always on the lookout for partnership opportunities and ventures to help bring to market.
In the meantime, Mana has stepped up to support the next generation of local entrepreneurs by establishing the Manacorp Charitable Foundation Leadership Award at the University of the Fraser Valley.
Any UFV student from Abbotsford who has demonstrated excellence and talent in the areas of entrepreneurship, leadership, and community involvement will now be eligible to apply for this $1,000 award. Welcome news to students in these tough economic times.
Investing in UFV and higher education in the Fraser Valley was an easy decision for Mana’s CEO. “By giving to UFV we want to support tomorrow’s group of business and community leaders,” says Fauske. “It is our hope that this gift will not only reward those people who have an appreciation for entrepreneurship, but will encourage others to understand and value the importance of small business and inventiveness to our economy. It is also important for us that by giving back we can make it possible for more students to attend UFV.”
Mana is going an extra step in supporting UFV students. The corporation has also underwritten two $1,000 bursaries to assist students with financial need. Bursaries can be the difference between finishing one’s studies and moving forward in a career and having to wait for the funds to complete a degree. Many students have the ambition to learn and better themselves, but sometimes lack all the financial resources to make it happen. That is where gifts like that from Mana can really make a difference.
All three awards are ready for disbursement and promise to generate much interest among the student population at UFV.
