UFV and Science World ‘open doors’ to local Grade 11 and 12 students
Fraser Valley high school students are getting an unprecedented opportunity to network with professional scientists, engineers, technologists, and technicians. UFV and Science World are teaming up to bring Grade 11 and 12 students -- tomorrow’s science and technology innovators -- to campus for an event called ‘Opening the Door’ on Wednesday, February 24.
The Opening the Door program connects high school students with mentors and encourages the exploration of science and technology careers, both in the lab and in non-traditional areas such as business or communications. Program details are available at www.scienceworld.ca/careersinscience.html .
The free event begins at 6 pm and includes a panel discussion, networking session, door prizes, refreshments, and a science show before wrapping up around 9 pm. Spaces are limited. Register before 5 pm on Feb 14 by emailing Karen Cooper at scienceadvice@ufv.ca .
Venue: University of the Fraser Valley, Room B101 (Theatre), 33844 King Road, Abbotsford.
