UFV offers professional communications certificate in Mission this fall
Current or aspiring communications professionals, or those who just want to communicate clearly and concisely, will have direct access to a UFV certificate program in Mission starting this autumn.
The Professional Communication Essentials certificate is a three-course program designed to help people improve their communications skills, whether they’re current students in other UFV programs, or employees whose jobs require good communications skills.. It focuses on the communication essentials of business writing and public speaking.
The writing component includes direct, indirect, and persuasive messages; document and webpage design; and emails, memos, letters, and reports. The public speaking programming includes running meetings, giving oral presentations, and working in teams.
All three courses are offered at UFV’s Mission campus at Heritage Park Centre on Wednesdays in the evening from 7 to 9:50pm . CMNS 125: Business Communication will run from Sept 7 to Dec 6; CMNS 251: Professional Report Writing will follow from Jan 10–Apr 16; and the final course, CMNS 235: Oral Communication, will be delivered May 9 to June 25, 2011.
Graduates will receive a UFV certificate and the option to transfer all three courses into a UFV diploma or degree program later.
Seats are limited. Contact Gayle Noel at 604-557-4093 or gayle.noel@ufv.ca to discuss options and fees. Details available at www.ufv.ca/cmns.
