Welcome to UFV’s Baker House!
Congratulations on making a great decision and we are happy you have made the decision to stay with us. Living in residence offers you a very special and rewarding experience- it is not just a place to stay!
To help facilitate a positive experience, the staff and students in Residence Services and Student life work hard to provide you a wide variety of programs and services in addition to convenient, safe and secure facilities. We provide you with opportunities designed to enhance your university experience and develop transferable skills beyond you stay with us from living with people from all over the world.
For example, you will have access to a Residence 101 course at no costs and worth 2 credits! You will have many leadership opportunities such as joining a UFV club or association or attending a leadership retreat. You will form friendships with people from diverse backgrounds and participate in many intramural activities.
What to Bring to UFV Baker House
This “What to Bring to the Baker House” list is a general overview of items that typically are used in a residence room. We recommend waiting until you move-in and meet your roommate to determine who might bring certain items due to space and economic considerations. This is not an all-inclusive list; if you are unsure about an item, please contact residence@ufv.ca.

7 Steps to a Successful Move In Day Step 1 When you arrive to Baker House, please park in Lot 10, it is free for the day and is located across from the residence. A volunteer will meet you and will answer questions about move-in. If there is no volunteer, please park your car and make your way to the front entrance of Bake Step 2 Enter the main doors of Baker House and check in at the 1st Floor Common Room (Through entrance and staright ahead). You will need one piece of photo I.D. You will be given the following:
- A Residence Contract (to review and sign right away if you are 18 years or older. If you are not 18 years or older, you must have a guardian present to sign for you)
- A Unit Condition Report
- Meal Plan Ontract
- Welcome package and Residence Handbook
- Parking registration form (if you have registered for underground parking)
- Key sign out form (return right away to get the following):
- UFV Campus Card- Student ID, access to Baker House, meal plan, laundry
Step 3 Visit your unit and room. Walk through your room and fill out your Unit Condition Report (used to determine damage deposit when you move out). Return this report to the Front Desk.
Step 4 Go back to your vehicle and move it to where you need to unload your items. Proceed to unload your vehicle, and then move your car back to Parking Lot 10.
Step 5 Unpack your room, bring recycling and garbage outside to the bins.
Step 6 Have your picture taken at the Libarary on your UFV Campus card. Show Front Desk to activate your meal plan.
Step 7 Attend Residence Orientation in B101 Auditorium and meet new people! September 3 @ 5 pm in the Cascafe Cafe.
