Current Position:

Postdoctoral Fellow, Agriburban Research Centre - jointly appointed in the Department of Geography at the University of the Fraser Valley and the Institute for Resources, Environment & Sustainability at the University of British Columbia

Lisa is an active part of a longstanding  family farm operation in Western Kentucky; she also has great love for the landscape of British Columbia and the U.S. Pacific Northwest.   Complementing and in addition to her work at the Agriburban Research Centre, her scholarly interests include medium- and large-scale agriculture, landscape, land use conflict and negotiation, natural resources extraction, foodways, water systems, and national parks.  She has collected numerous oral histories on barbecue for both the Southern Foodways Alliance and Foodways Texas, and contributed to the book, Republic of Barbecue: Stories Beyond the Brisket (University of Texas Press, 2009). While her current position does not involve teaching, she has taught university courses on environmental history, national parks, women in the American West, and calculus. When not at work, Lisa spends her time hiking, cooking, riding ferries, and visiting pumpkin patches.
