The following course will likely be offered again at UFV in Fall 2010:

Introduction to Equestrian Coaching and Instruction
This is the first of two courses to help you prepare for the Equine Canada Instructor/Coach Evaluation. You should be comfortable and confident around horses. Topics include the theory of coaching, discussion and lesson plan development using 20 common teaching subjects, and how to prepare for an Equine Canada exam.

Instructor: Maureen Walters
Maureen likes to be thought of as a “jack of all trades” riding teacher. She has been involved with many different disciplines. She is an Equine Canada senior jumper judge and an EC basic dressage judge, and has worked as a senior steward at many large horseshows during the past twenty years, including Spruce Meadows, North American Young Riders Championships, and an FEI competitionin Florida. Maureen is involved with Pony Club, teaching and examining at the national level. After achieving her EC Coach 2 status in the 1980s, Maureen became active as an examiner for those wishing to become certified coaches, and is now master course conductor for B.C. She is very involved with the Horse Council of B.C. and acts as VP of Competitions.
