Current Agricultural Practices Essentials certificate
This 18-credit, 6-course, post-credential certificate will help meet the professional development needs of agriculturists who have either been away from agriculture for a while or who are recent Canadians with prior agriculture experience. This program will update the student's knowledge of Canadian agriculture and offer a valuable experience (Practicum I) in a modern agriculture business.
1. BC secondary school graduation or equivalent, or minimum 19 years of age before first day of class.
2. Applicants must satisfy the English language policy. See here for details.
3. A one-year certificate, or a diploma or degree in Agriculture or Horticulture from a recognized post-secondary institution. Some courses have prerequisites. Prospective students are encouraged to meet with the Agriculture Technology department head before commencing the program.
How to apply
Submit your application fee, along with your UFV application for admission form, to the Admissions and Records (A&R) office. Application forms are available at any A&R or Student Services office. You can also print an application form from, or you can apply directly through the internet at www.pas.bc.ca.
Document required for a complete application:
• proof of BC secondary school graduation or equivalent.
When to apply
Applications are accepted on a continuous basis throughout the year. Qualified applicants are considered for the next intake in which there is space.
Chilliwack campus and at the practicum workplace.

Courses to be completed:

||Two approved UFV courses, at least one of which is an Agriculture Technology diploma course
Continuance and probation
Some courses have prerequisites. Prospective students are advised to contact the Agriculture Technology department before commencing the program. To be eligible for AGRI 192, students must have full-time status, and at least 9 UFV Agriculture Technology credits and attend a practicum orientation session.
Students must complete at least 50% of credits required in the certificate at UFV.
A minimum GPA of 2.0 in all courses is required in the program.
