Get your Heavy Mechanical Trades Red Seal
Heavy Mechanical is a nationally designated trade under the Inter-provincial Red Seal program. Earning your Heavy Mechanical Red Seal Endorsement marks you as skilled worker and can open job opportunities.
The Apprenticeship program consists of four levels of in-school training which are, ten weeks for Level 1, eight weeks for Level 2, six weeks for Level 3, and four weeks for Level 4. UFV is proud to offer Level 1 beginning March 29, 2016. Other levels to be announced.
Level 1 is a ten-week training program. Classes are scheduled in the day time and include both theory and practice.
Entrance requirements are that students need to have a sponsor to oversee their work, and they must be registered with the Industry Training Authority.
If you are not currently working as a heavy mechanical trades person, you may consider enrolling first in UFV's Heavy Mechanical Trades Foundation program to gain the entry-level skills needed to secure employment. As a graduate of the program, you will get advanced apprenticeship placement when you find an employer to sponsor you.
