University & College Access program (UCAP)

As an indigenous student looking into post-secondary education, you may discover that being short a few program entrance requirements means committing to more preparation. Getting prepared for the challenge of post-secondary study can seem daunting and overwhelming. UCAP may be the answer. Whatever program of study you wish to pursue, UCAP can be an important initial step toward realizing your dream.

UCAP is a UFV Aboriginal Access Services transition year initiative program designed to benefit indigenous students, like you, of diverse ages and backgrounds. If you want to meet the entrance requirements of a particular UFV program, you should consider becoming part of UCAP. It will help you to build student support systems and gain valuable university credits towards your certificate, diploma, or degree.

Mature students
If you want to return to school after either being in the workforce or raising a family, you may need to sharpen your English, math, or science skills before being accepted into a UFV program of study. UCAP will provide you with the skills, knowledge development, and the opportunity to study with other indigenous students. UCAP can also assist you in gaining access to UFV programs.

Grade 12 graduates
As a recent high school graduate, you may find that your changing interests and evolving career goals mean that you need to pick up a few specific courses in order to be accepted into a UFV program. Perhaps you need a higher grade in English or Math.  UCAP can help you -- no matter what your age -- to make strides toward achieving your career goals.

UCAP provides you with collaborative learning seminars, academic workshops, student support services, cultural gatherings, elder in residence, and an opportunity for success.
