Robert Sochowski, BA ’06

Robert Sochowski earned a two-year diploma in building engineering technology, specializing in mechanical building systems, in 1992 and then a provincial instructor diploma in 2004 and a certificate in adult and continuing education in 2005. Robert has worked beyond his limits, his drive to succeed a result of his hearing loss, which never prevented him from reaching his goals. He earned his degree while working full-time. He went on to complete his Master of Arts in Leadership with a specialization in health in 2008. He considers himself to be a role model for future lifelong learners.

With the support of his partner, Robert is now in his third year of working toward his doctoral degree in education with a specialization in educational technology. Robert is currently working in Victoria for the Government of British Columbia as a building technology advisor, and he serves on many national technical committees across Canada. He is a competitive dragon boat and outrigger paddler. He trained for the 2008 World Outrigger Canoe Sprint Championship in Sacramento on Team Canada. Robert says his interest in pursuing his doctorate and success in his career and life is a direct result of his UCFV studies.
