CHAPLIN & TOME UFV Cascades/Abbotsford Heat ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Adam Chaplin, men's volleyball and Kira Tome, women's volleyball are the UFV Cascades/Abbotsford Heat athletes of the week, for the week ending, February 17th, 2013. 

Chaplin, a second year left side from  Mission, BC helped the UFV Cascades earn the sixth and final playoff berth with a pair of 3-1 victories over the CBC Bearcats on the final weekend of the PACWEST regular season.  Chaplin, led UFV in aces with 36, good for a 0.41 average, fourth best in the conference.  

"Adam is an incredible worker, and that has shown in his commitment to taking on our setting role, a position he hasn’t trained for several years,” commented UFV head coach Greg Russell.

Tome, helped the UFV Cascades women's volleyball program win the school's first ever regular season championship with a pair of 3-0 victories over the CBC Bearcats.  Tome, who played in all 24 regular season games as a first year setter from Surrey, BC finished 9th in digs, in PACWEST, with a 2.59 average.

"The greatest compliment I could give her (Kira), she made her teammates better. What a great year," said UFV Cascades coach Dennis Bokenfohr.
