Dr. Irwin Cohen
Dr. Irwin M. Cohen is the Research Director for the BC Centre for Social Responsibility and a Professor in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of the Fraser Valley. He has published over 30 journal articles, book chapters, and reports on a wide range of topics ranging from serious and violent young offenders to terrorism. As the Research Director for the BCCSR, Dr. Cohen is responsible for overseeing research in the areas of alcohol and drug abuse/misuse, internet addiction, and gaming. To date, Dr. Cohen has published a number of articles and reports on the topic of alcohol use, abuse, and misuse. More specifically, Dr. Cohen has explored the relationship between alcohol use and young offending, the differential effect of alcohol use as a risk factor for criminality among Aboriginal youth, attitudes and rates of binge drinking among post-secondary students, and an analysis of the nature and extent of impaired driving in British Columbia. |
