Our hiring process

A brief overview of our recruitment and selection process is below.

Advertising of Vacancies

Advertised vacancies are posted on our Careers (job postings) page.  All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.  To submit an application, follow the steps listed on our How to Apply page. 

Employment Equity

Consideration of Canadians and Permanent Residents of Canada

As required by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), Canadians and Permanent Residents of Canada will be given priority.  Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada to be considered.

Campus locations, maps and directions are available as well as building floor plans. On-site, pay-per-use Visitor parking spots are available. If required (you are lost while on campus), use our online Directory to contact your interviewer/ departmental host. 

Travel - Accommodation & Transportation

Visitors travelling to UFV by air may arrive at Abbotsford or Vancouver (Canada-side), Bellingham or Seattle (USA-side) International Airports. (Valid travel and other supporting documentation may be required.)

Visitors to our surrounding communities in the Fraser Valley can find information online via:

If you require hotel accommodation or a car rental, the Canadian Association of Business Officers (CAUBO) has negotiated agreements with vendors who you may consider and which are available to all faculty and staff for University Members (Regular) and College Members (Affiliate). Additionally, visitor accommodation in our surrounding areas can be found through the above tourism sites.  Please note that UFV does not have service contracts/ agreements with any accommodation service providers, who may independently offer rates based on your demonstrated affiliation(s) - e.g., AAA; government; member/ loyalty points programs; etc. Please inquire directly with the service provider of your choice.

Baker house

UFV residence, the Baker House is located on the Abbotsford campus and is open for individual reservations for the summer from May 13th to August 11th.
