CIS Program Entrance Requirements
The entrance requirements for all CIS programs are:
B.C. secondary school graduation or equivalent. In addition, those 19 years or older may be considered without graduation, if their work experience indicates a reasonable chance of success.
B.C. Principles of Math 12 (or equivalent) with a grade of C+ or better, provincially examined.
Familiarity with computers. This includes knowing how to run programs and manage files in a Windows environment and having basic Internet, word processing and spreadsheet skills.
- Completion of the prerequisite for entry into CMNS 125. The requirements are currently:
- A UCFV CPT (composition placement test) score of 48 or better, or
- CMNS 099 with C+ or better, or
- ENGL 099 with a C or better, or
- ENGL 081 or 091 with a C+ or better.
- Students entering the degree (years 3 and 4) are also required to have a CGPA (cumulative grade point average) of 2.67 or higher in their diploma work.
In addition, students applying for the degree program (years 3 and 4) must have completed the UCFV CIS diploma program, or the equivalent at another institution. See Transferring from other Institutions for more information. Entrance Requirements Not Complete Yet?
Students may apply for program entry before they have obtained their entrance requirements. For example, high school students will not have graduated before June, and may not receive their official final grades until August. Students in this situation may be given conditional acceptance based on interim grades submitted in the spring of their grade 12 year. Proof of entrance requirements is required by the end of the first week of August for final acceptance.
