IT Talent Gap 2008 UFV CIS initiates plans to tackle regional talent shortage

With efforts to assist in tackling the skills shortage in our region, UFV CIS will strengthen relationships with the growing pool of Cisco channel partners.

UFV CIS has implemented the new CCNS program targetted squarely at the talent shortage.  As well, and within the new program CIS will be well positioned to begin to address the specific curriculum needs that industry has identified.  More specifically, the curriculum needs identified by the new CCNA certifications (CCNA Security, CCNA Wireless and CCNA Voice) have being given top priority.

Coupled to the launch of this new program, CIS has begun to establish closer ties with the many Cisco partners in our region.  Anticipated benefits are early awareness of employment opportunities, guest lectures provided by industry speakers and industry-student mentorships.

Channel partners will be invited to present their local perspectives and IT requirements.
