Academic Upgrading Courses
Students may need to complete or upgrade high school courses to meet UFV entrance requirements or course prerequisites. Students are encouraged to consult with advisors and take assessment tests to determine where they should start.
For all CIS programs, B.C. Principles of Math 11 (or equivalent) with a grade of C or better (including the provincial exam component) is an entrance requirement.
Upgrading and University Preparation at UFV
The Upgrading and University Preparation (UUP) department at UFV provides high school upgrading opportunities. UUP provides
- MATH 084 Advanced Developmental Math I
- MATH 085 Advanced Developmental Math II
These two courses are the equivalent to B.C. MATH 11. Students may take either the Math Placement Test or the UUP assessment to gain entry into MATH 084 or MATH 085 (consult the UFV calendar for official details).
Mathematics Department Courses
The B.C. Principles of Math 12 entrance requirement may be satisfied by taking
- MATH 094 Introduction to College Math I
- MATH 095 Introduction to College Math II
*** with an average grade of C+.
Note: Students need to write the Math Placement Test or have completed MATH 11, MATH 085, or equivalent, with a C or better in order to gain admission to MATH 094 (consult the UFV calendar for official details).
