CIS department @ UFV presents:

The field of computing is rife with stereotypes, almost all of them male: the coding geek, the gamer, the assembly whiz kid. But while these types do succeed in the world of professional computing, there is a need for more women to consider it as a career path. Most of the jobs in this industry, especially at the management level, demand strong communication and business skills alongside conventional computer skills. Women tend to thrive in this environment.

We would like to show our young women what computers can do for them. The Cuter Computer Challenge is a fun way to engage 13-17 year-old females in the field of computing science. They'll work in teams to solve real-world problems and in doing so, can win cool prizes, possibly land a job shadow opportunity, meet interesting people, and have a lot of fun!

The Challenge is set for May 15, 2010  from 9am to 3 pm at the UFV Abbotsford campus.
Room D223. ( second floor D-Building)
