UFV’s Upgrading and University Preparation (UUP) department helps students reach their education and career goals. We provide programs for adults of all ages and from various backgrounds, including those with special needs. Follow our step-by-step process to become a UUP student.

Adult Basic Education (ABE) Program

The Adult Basic Education (ABE) program has two levels:

  1. Adult Basic Education (ABE)
  2. Adult Basic Education University Preparation (ABEUP)

Adult learners (18 and older) may take ABE courses to

  • meet prerequisites for university courses and programs (University Upgrading);
  • complete high school and earn the provincially-recognized Adult Graduation Diploma (Grade 12 equivalency/Adult Dogwood); and
  • improve basic English, math, and computer skills for personal benefit or employment.

Workplace TASK Program
Workplace Training in Attitudes, Skills, and Knowledge (TASK) certificate

The TASK pre-employment program is for adult students with disabilities who want to explore employment opportunities and prepare for a job.

Funding is available for those who qualify for the Adult Upgrading Grants 2015-2016‌ through UFV Financial Aid and Awards.
