Professional Makeup Design
This 405-hour, full-time program is designed to teach you the fundamentals of makeup artistry. You will acquire the skills to apply current fashion trends along with airbrushing, wedding, photography, daytime and evening makeup in a professional environment. This program will also include a review of business opportunities for the entrepreneurial type who wants to be self-employed. Upon successful completion of this program
you will receive a certificate from UFV, as well as a one-year membership with Beauty Council (Cosmetology Association of Western Canada), certificate of qualification for Makeup from Beauty Council and a certificate for Beauty Council’s BeautySafe program (cosmetology industry’s protocols of infection control, safe cleaning, sterilization and chemical practices).
The cost of this program is $5,200. Textbooks and a supply kit are available at the UFV bookstore and not included in the course fee. Classes run Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 9 am to 5 pm at the Chilliwack campus at Canada Education Park starting April 8, and the topics include:

About your instructor:
Kym Elderkin has 14 years of experience in the beauty industry including owning a salon in the Harrison Hot Springs Resort and Spa and teaching cosmetology. She has earned her Provincial Instructor diploma, Journeyman Hairstylist (Red Seal), certificate of qualification in the Trade of Cosmetologist (ITA) and Beauty Council Fully Qualified Hairstylist certificate.
For the past 11 years Kym has held the position of senior educational administrator in hairdressing and makeup artistry at two private industries. Kym currently facilitates the BeautySafe program created by Beauty Council for qualified hairstylists, estheticians, and makeup artists. Kym continues to upgrade her skills and education to keep current with industry trends and has had advanced training in Germany and Paris with regards to haircutting, coloring, and makeup.
Kym has considerable knowledge and experience in educating students in Cosmetology and placing students into industry related work experience/job placements. As an educator Kym will bring enthusiasm, inspiration, and passion to the students.
