Couples Workshops Workshops are based on well documented research principles designed to help couples communicate and manage conflict more effectively and to enhance their friendship and the foundation of their relationships. With the help of trained professionals, couples will learn and practise skills taught in a safe and comfortable environment. Enhancing Connection Chilliwack—November 23 & 24 Assessing Risk and Understanding Violence in Youth This course provides an introduction of the field of risk/threat assessment, intervention, and violence prevention. Gain knowledge for assessing an individual’s potential for violence, with a focus on using multi-disciplinary collaborative practices. A particular emphasis will be placed on prevention strategies and intervention techniques. Various psycho-social and developmental factors that contribute to aggression will be examined, along with an in-depth exploration of individual pathology and family, school, and social dynamics. This course will assist individuals in addressing violence along the continuum from high-end violence, including school shootings, to bullying behaviours, while emphasizing the importance of building policies and practices that create safe school cultures.

Starts Sep 12 Oral Communications for the Workplace This course focuses on the principles and practice of effective speaking in the workplace. Specific areas include informal presentations to small groups, formal presentations, meeting management, use of audio/visual aids, effective visual aid design, developing voice, and improving body language.
