Effective Negotiation Skills
Effective negotiation skills are more important than ever in the current recessional financial environment. Improve your skills to reduce the amount of money you leave “on the table” through common purchases. Learn how to save money, improve your career, and enrich your relationships with advanced negotiation skills. We’ll cover how to plan the negotiation, and how and when to compromise, while standing your ground during common negotiations. We’ll practise proven theory and common scenarios by participating in role-playing workshops of common negotiating circumstances, and learn how to properly prepare and react to changing variables during the negotiation process.

Foundations of Conflict
This core course recommended as the first step to success in the program. It will serve as the foundation for all conflict management courses. The course explores conflict from both positive and negative perspectives, and includes opportunities for personal development. Learn how your behaviour contributes to confl ict, and how to identify and improve your emotional intelligence. You will also learn how to acknowledge hidden conflict (e.g., passive-aggressive patterns), how to identify when conflict is becoming acute, and how to mitigate its impact. Interpersonal communication skills are stressed throughout this course, and attention is placed on active listening and respectful behaviours. The dynamics of change are explored as part of the course. Work accomplished in this course will support further course work. Thus you should keep all journals, records, and books used in class.
