Medical Terminology
This in-depth course prepares you to apply medical terminology in a clinical setting or in the admissions and records department of a hospital. Topics include anatomy, major functions, common diseases, lab tests, clinical procedures, and abbreviations. A Statement of Completion will be issued upon successful completion of this course. Textbook and course pack are available for purchase at the UFV bookstore in Abbotsford.

Medical Office Transcription
Prerequisites: Completion of Medical Terminology course, knowledge of MS Office Word and a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
Students will learn to perform medical transcription of a variety of medical reports, consultation letters, chart notes, operative reports, laboratory reports, patient history records and much more. Completion of this valuable course will assist you to gain employment in medical offices, medical facilities, hospitals, insurance companies and starting your own home based medical transcription business. Textbook available for purchase at UFV bookstore.

This 150-hour program is designed for Medical Office Assistant workers looking to enhance their career or broaden their skills into medical office management. Additional positions could include transcriptionists and medical receptionists. Pre-requisites: one plus years as an MOA, a letter confirming employment, and a certified
typing speed of at least 45 net words per minute.
