Digital Photography – An Introduction for the Absolute Beginner This six-hour course is designed for people with very little experience with a digital camera and/or a computer. It will cover basic camera operation, transferring images from the camera to the computer, opening/resizing/saving photos, and some simple photo enhancement techniques using Adobe Photoshop. Take this course if you are very new to digital photography and/or computers. Be sure to bring the camera connection cord and CD that came with your digital camera if you have them.
ABBOTSFORD – Clearbrook centre (80045 FA PHT13 A5A) Tamara Okoti, 2 sessions, Thu, 6:30-9:30 pm, $85. Starts Sep 20 Digital Photography Basics Prerequisite: Basic computer skills If you are becoming frustrated with always using the auto mode on your camera, consider taking this 15-hour course. Once you have a better understanding of your camera and how to use it in different light conditions, you’ll be much more confident taking photographs. You will also learn basic photo management and enhancement techniques using Adobe Photoshop. This is a shortened version of the 30-hour course and shouldn’t be seen as a preparation for that course. Be sure to bring the camera connection cord and CD that came with your digital camera if you have them. An e-textbook is included with this course.
ABBOTSFORD – Clearbrook centre (80044 DIMD PHT07 A5A) Tamara Okoti, 5 sessions, Thu, 6:30-9:30 pm, $285. Starts Oct 4 Digital Photography – Beginners to Intermediate This course is suitable for all levels of photography, from beginners to advanced amateurs. Topics include selecting the right equipment to improve your photography, mastering all types of exposure options including manual, improving composition, controlling focus to improve sharpness, and developing creative nature (scenics, flowers, and animals) and portrait styles and techniques. Several challenge projects and one full-day Sunday session will be presented to experiment and practise skills taught in class. The class consists of six evening classes and one full-day session to be decided in class. Bring your camera and manual (if available) to class.
CHILLIWACK – Canada Education Park (80043 DIMD PHT05 C5A) Ken Pugh, 8 sessions, Wed, 7-9:30 pm, $265. Starts Sep 26 Photographing Birds This course is designed for all the avid birders and photographers who need help stepping up to the next stage in their journey – capturing your sightings in quality photographs. Except for the first session, all other sessions will be held in the field where you will gain hands-on experience mastering those camera controls essential to produce bird images – manual exposure control, shutter speeds, ISO and focusing. Sunday field trips will vary in location from Reifel Bird Sanctuary in Ladner, Mill Lake in Abbotsford, Kilby and Harrison Lake, The Great-Blue Heron Reserve and Sardis Park in Chilliwack and the Cheam Wetlands in Popkum. Equipment choices will be covered so don’t buy anything prior to class or contacting the instructor. A tripod is recommended. The only classroom session will be on Wed. Sept 19, and you will decide on five field trips to be held on Sunday weather and holidays permitting.
