Many students start university unsure of their career goals and may change their goals at least once. Effective career planning involves knowing yourself, understanding the world of work and sorting through the possibilities. By working together with a counsellor, you can explore your career options and find your focus. We offer:

Self-Assessment Tools
Begin your exploration by checking out some useful career planning websites and resources. Try the self-assessments to help you gain a better understanding of your values, interests, skills and personality. Identify your skills and values with our career planning handouts.

Workshops
UFV offers career and life planning workshops for students and members of the community. This four session workshop explores career and life options through self-assessment, exploring the work of work and decision-making and action steps. Two career tests are used: the Strong Interest Inventory and the Myers Briggs Type Indicator. Cost of the workshop is $40 for current students and $60 for non-students. Individual Appointments
Make an appointment with a counsellor to help you clarify your direction. Your counsellor will work with you to identify your interests, values, skills and personality and then help you to determine possible careers.
