Harvey McCullough appointed new dean of Trades and Technology at UCFV
The University College of the Fraser Valley has a new senior administrator with the appointment of Harvey McCullough as dean of the Faculty of Trades and Technology.
"Harvey's appointment as a dean is significant in a number of ways," says UCFV president Skip Bassford. "It recognizes the key role that Harvey has played in the development of trades and technology programs in the past, and the confidence we have in his ability to take the leadership role in many new developments in the future. As well, the creation of this new senior administrative position demonstrates the level of importance that UCFV places on trades and technology training."
McCullough has been involved in trades and technology training at UCFV for 25 years. He started the carpentry program, where he taught for more than five years. He then became the coordinator of Trades and later the director of Trades & Technology until his new appointment as dean.
UCFV currently offers 20 full-time trades and technology programs, including the Career Technical Centre partnership with the Abbotsford school district. More than 600 students take entry level and apprenticeship trades training each year. Trades and Technology also offers about 35 Continuing Studies programs and contract courses each semester.
Dean McCullough says he is looking forward to seeing the expansion and addition of trades and technology training at UCFV, especially in the Chilliwack area. He also looks forward to having his areas more involved in research and to developing stronger connections with other instructional areas.
"I am especially proud of the fact that our Trades and Technology area is unique in Canada as a faculty within a comprehensive regional university," says McCullough.
