Official opening of the Centre for Criminal Justice Research at UCFV
When: Friday, March 26, 1 p.m.,
Where: UCFV, foyer of the Peter Jones Learning Centre on the Abbotsford campus
Who: Guests will include the Honorable Rich Coleman, Solicitor General of B.C.,
and RCMP Deputy Commissioner Bev Busson.
What:
The Centre of Criminal Justice Research at UCFV will be the first of an
international network of research laboratories that will further
multidisciplinary research on urban issues with a focus on crime and safety. The
new lab at UCFV will provide a secure facility in which crime-related data can
be analyzed through modern data management. The Centre is being established in
partnership with the Institute for Canadian Urban Research Studies (ICURS) at
Simon Fraser University. ICURS has recently received a substantial donation from
Sun Microsystems to enhance its analytic capacity to become the international
leader in crime pattern analysis. This state-of-the-art technology will be put
to work in the new Centre at UCFV.
