Biographical Information:

Ian Mackenzie served in a variety of capacities as a police officer in Vancouver and Abbotsford for 32 years. He was the Chief Constable of the Abbotsford Police Department from 2001 to 2007. Upon his retirement he joined the full-time faculty at UFV, where he had been an adjunct faculty member for many years. |

- Policing, more specifically: management strategies and practices; ethics; police effectiveness; operational issues; relationships between police agencies and between the police and other criminal justice and public service agencies.
- Criminal law, especially the role of the police within criminal law and the criminal justice system.
- Charter of Rights and Freedoms, especially its impact on police practices and effectiveness.
- Civil liberties, especially the issue of balancing civil liberties with collective security.
