10 Internet Safety Tips for Parents

The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child recognizes that "for the full and harmonious development of [a child's] personality", children require special care and assistance in keeping with their evolving capacities. An emerging aspect of education for the 21st Century is to ensure children are ready for Internet-based learning. This fact sheet provides 10 practical tips for supporting parents and other caregivers as they establish safe and caring Internet experiences for families.

PBIS School Team Training, January 21-22, 2013
The purpose of the training is to establish a framework for schools to develop and implement a school-wide approach to behaviour, social responsibility and academic achievement. Schools are encouraged to register by January 11, 2013. For more information, see brochure.

PBIS Coaches Training, August 19-22, 2013
This training is for school and district personnel in BC who will act as coaches for schools implementing PBS. For more information, click here.

Funding Opportunity - Crime Remediation Fund
Minister Shirley Bond recently announced that up to $1 million will be available to support local responses to violence and crime prevention throughout the province in 2012-13. The upcoming grant opportunities will support projects aimed at preventing youth involvement in crime, combating human trafficking and sexual exploitation, preventing family violence and violence against women, and community crime prevention. Teen Screen Schools and Communities at Columbia University has provided a listing of bullying prevention programs and curriculum tools for implementation in school and community settings.
