CYC Practicum Sites

This portion of our CYC Practicum Centre is for information about the various practicum sites in which we place our students.  Over many years the Child and Youth Care Department at UFV has developed many wonderful partnerships with a large number of placement agencies.

We want to express our deep appreciation to the many people in communities from Squamish to Tsawwassan to Abbotsford to Boston Bar.  And its not just geography that is varied.  The variety of setting types is amazing too.  We place students in schools, hospitals, doing street work, working in detox centres, and many government agencies/Ministries.  Students can also be placed in settings where work is done with a wide range of age groups as well.

This page lead you to three resources:

Practicum Site Registry Survey

We are encouraging Practicum Sites to add their listing by completing this short survey.  Simply click on the link and answer a few simple questions.  Once you have completed the survey, the information will be added to our list within a few days.

Practicum Sites (under construction)

A partial listing of our practicum sites.  Feel free to look at the exciting opportunities offered to our students.  This listing is new and will be small at first.  However, it will grow as more sites add their information through the registry survey above.

Vancouver and Lower Mainland Red Book

The Red Book is a wonderful online resource that allows students to explore the vast number of agencies in the entire Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley to give them ideas for their own practicum placement.  Faculty in the CYC program are always interested in your ideas for your placement, although please understand that the final decision for placement is made by faculty.

Explore this useful resource to give you as many idaea as possible.  Go to http://www2.vpl.vancouver.bc.ca/redbook for a look at this resource.  Once there, click on the "search page" link near the top, at the left.
