Maple leafThe UFV Canadian Writers series

The UFV Canadian Writers Series features poets, novelists, journalists, non-fiction writers, memoirists and panelists to enhance and celebrate literature and writing with a readership. Our goal is to encourage the development and support of a rich and diverse literary community. We hope to provide awareness of Canadian as well as British Columbian writers, knowledge about the value of books and printed materials, and foster creative writing.

The UFV Canandian Writers Series believes literature is living language--sometimes thoughtful,  sometimes playful--merging art and politics, and that art in all its forms will help us to build social cohesion and a strong community. Literature and art make a difference.

* All events are open to the public, free of charge and held in the UFV Bookstore situated in the lower commons of Baker House, student residence. Access to this venue at our McKenzie Road entrance, it is wheelchair accessible. Ample parking is available across the drive. A full cafeteria and coffee house are close by for early pre-reading meals and beverages. Also, Casey’s, the Student Union pub with food service, is located in the Student Activity Centre for pre-reading beverages and meals.

This series is made possible by the generous support of:
UFV English Department & the Faculty of Arts, the UFV Campus Bookstore,  with the assistance of our volunteers: students, faculty, alumni; and the reading public who are friends of the writers series.

Some events feature an "In the Salon": Conversation with an author, we hope to expose writers and the audience from UFV and the greater community to the opinions of a variety of panelists in dialogue together and with the audience.
