Jaspreet Singh
Montreal writer Jaspreet Singh was born in India and moved to Canada in 1990. Formerly a research scientist and teacher, with a PhD in chemical engineering from McGill University, Singh has won critical acclaim for his short stories, including his collection entitled 17 Tomatoes: Tales from Kashmir which won the QWF 2004 McAuslan First Book Prize. The book has been translated into Spanish as well as Punjabi.
His stories have appeared in Walrus, Fiddlehead, ArtsEtc World Cup Cricket Anthology, and Francis Ford Coppola's Zoetrope, as well as being featured on CBC Radio.
Mr. Singh will take up residence at UFV from
February 4 to April 14, 2009
