	Rex Weyler

Rex Weyler is a writer and ecologist. He has extensive experience working alongside many of the world's renowned authors, ecologists, and public intellectuals. Many of you will recognize him as co-founder of Greenpeace International. Rex's stories and photographs helped make Greenpeace a household name around the world. His 2004 edition Greenpeace: How a Group of Ecologists, Journalists and Visionaries Changed the World, is recognized as the organization's definitive history. Greenpeace was also a finalist for the BC Book Award and the Shaughnessy-Cohen Award for Political Writing.

Weyler's other books include Blood of the Land, a history of indigenous American nations; The Jesus Sayings, a deconstruction of first century history, finalist for the BC Book Award; and The Story of Harmony, the history of musical knowledge and technology. He is a co-author of Chop Wood, Carry Water: A Guide to Finding Spiritual Fulfillment in Everyday Life, and contributor to other books and journals.

Rex Weyler remains active in ecological campaigns to preserve rivers and forests and to stop whaling, sealing, and toxic dumping. He worked on water quality legislation in BC and forest preservation in Canada and South America. He currently posts the Deep Green column at the Greenpeace International website and appears on The Tyee, Energy Bulletin, and at rexweyler.com. Weyler consults on film and television projects, speaks on issues of ecology, society, and journalism, and is currently writing a book about "Ecology and Economy."

In 1982, Weyler co-founded the Hollyhock Education Centre on Cortes Island, BC, which offers seminars in practical and creative arts. He lives on Cortes Island with his wife, artist Lisa Gibbons.
