TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT ALLOWANCE
All “A” and “B” (permanent) UFV employees have access to an Employee Training and Development Allowance, which is pro-rated if their contract is less than full-time.
Employees may transfer the funds to their Health Spending Account to be included in an RRSP contribution at the beginning of each fiscal year, or use for HSA claims. Funds which are not transferred will be available to reimburse as described below.
The T & D Allowance is a supplement to the UFV in-service professional development plan. All activities currently approved by the Joint Professional Development Committee are also approved for reimbursement through the Training & Development Allowance.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are using Training & Development funds for professional development activities you must submit the appropriate In-Service Professional Development application.
Do not submit a separate application to use Training & Development funds for expenses related to an approved PD activity. If the expenses submitted for an In-Service PD activity exceed the funds approved and available, the additional expenses will be reimbursed automatically from an individual's Training & Development Allowance.
Employees may submit one claim (per fiscal) for the following eligible expenses:
- internet connection fees
- computer purchases (once every 3 years)
- approved research expenses eligible under UFV guidelines for non in-service professional development
