English for Career and Professional Integration (ECPI)

ECPIstudents
If you are an internationally educated professional seeking employment in Canada, you now have the opportunity to develop advanced expertise in the English language and interactions of the Canadian workplace in a brand-new course being piloted at UFV.

The English for Career and Professional Integration (ECPI) course is the Lower Mainland’s first release of a new ESL curriculum developed to help foreign-trained professionals like you continue your career path in Canada. Designed for immigrants who already have a good command of English, the two-term, 18-credit course gives you language and cultural knowledge that will assure prospective employers of your competence as an employee and help you perform your job with professionalism and social sensitivity.

If you are an advanced-level student wanting to develop professional and employment-related communication skills, this may be the course for you. Through orientation and research of the local workforce, work simulations and role play, and opportunities to connect with and be evaluated by employers in their field, you will identify how your professional skills and experience fit within a Canadian professional context. By the end of the course, you will be equipped to enter the workforce, having developed a personal e-portfolio and completed training in self-presentation for prospective employers.

Read what students who are currently in the program have to say about their experience at UFV.

In 2007, classes will start on September 10th.

Information Session: August 29th (Wed) at 7:00 pm. Abbotsford Campus - Building A, Room A245.

Classes will run Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings from 7-9:50 pm at UFV’s Abbotsford campus.

Financial assistance is accessible for those in need (course fees total $490).

As a prerequisite, you should have a Canadian Language Benchmark Global score 7 with no score less than 6 (equivalent to UFV level 70). A short assessment test may be required.
