Philanthropy by Canadian Diaspora in India: a village improvement project.

Philanthropy in India is a well-hones service concept for the community, and the
Indo-Canadian Diaspora has consistently contributed tot the pool monetarily and through volunteer projects.

Projects include primary education, community health and well being, girl-child initiatives, heritage tourism, food security, language investment, good governance and sanitation.

In Punjab a number of NRI's (Non-resident Indians) have contributed to the development of rural villages and provided infrastructure knowledge and money to upgrade living conditions and community mobility. This presentation explores how these philanthropic activities relate to glabal development in a Canadian context.
