2

Apply to UFV

We accept applications every year beginning October 1 for our intake the following Fall. We prioritize applications that we receive before January 31, but will continue taking applications until all seats are filled.

For fastest processing, apply online. International students can review application information on the UFV International website and apply through the international online application.

As soon as your application is processed, you will receive information about program orientation and personal interview dates. Your portfolio is due at the time of your personal interview.

3

Attend the orientation session

Meet the faculty, tour our facilities, see our leading edge equipment in action, view student's past work, and learn about the Fashion Design diploma program. When you attend the orientation, we will schedule an interview date for you to present your portfolio.

If you apply after January 31 for entry in Fall, or if you live in another province or country, contact us to make special arrangements for an orientation and interview.

4

Prepare your portfolio

Your creativity will shine in your portfolio.

We assess your portfolio based on four different areas:

  • Artistic skills
  • Garments
  • Technical drafts
  • Communication skills

Check the full portfolio requirements. You will submit your portfolio at your interview.

5

Book your interview

If you apply before January 31 to start your studies in September, you must attend orientation in order to book an interview. Bring your portfolio to the interview as it will be reviewed during the session.

If you apply after January 31 or live in another province or country, contact us to make special arrangements for an interview and portfolio submission.

6

Wait for your letter of acceptance

Your preliminary response letter will contain your student ID number and information on how to access myUFV, your portal to your UFV email account, and more.

Use this information to access the portal: you can monitor the status of your application on myUFV, learn if you need to submit additional documents, or confirm that your application is complete.

You will receive an official letter of acceptance to notify you that you have been accepted to start your Fashion Design studies.

"UFV's Fashion Design program provided the knowledge and support I needed to pursue my dream of becoming a designer. The small class sizes and the individual attention from instructors helped me to develop the confidence to create a successful grad line.  It is because of the program I am inspired to live and breathe fashion for the rest of my life."
