New deadline for 2013 UFV Entrance Scholarship applications:

Because April 1 is a statutory holiday, the deadline for all 2013 UFV Entrance Scholarship applications is April 2, 2013.

UFV ENTRANCE AWARDS

If you are enrolling at UFV in the academic year immediately following your high school graduation, you may qualify for a UFV Entrance Scholarship award. Recipients are selected based on academic excellence, community/school involvement, volunteer experience, and leadership endeavours.

International students can visit UFV International’s website for a list of international entrance awards.

Provincial Exams and Entrance Scholarship GPA Calculations

Provincial exams have been eliminated for many courses. Courses that included provincial exams in 2011 will continue to meet any entrance requirement for "provincially examinable courses". These courses are listed below, and are now referred to as "Approved Grade 12 courses".

If you wrote provincial exams for these courses, the higher of your school mark or your blended grade is used for GPA calculation for entrance scholarships. You can calculate your blended grade by averaging your combined school mark and provincial exam result.

IB standard level and higher level diploma courses or Advanced Placement courses may be accepted in lieu of the courses on this list, but students cannot use both a regular grade 12 course and an IB or AP

UFV PRESIDENT'S ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP

AMOUNT: 4 Awards @ $4,000 each - $2,000 towards tuition in the first semester and $2,000 towards tuition in the second semester (subject to successful completion of the first semester with an overall 3.0 GPA). This award is renewable for up to three additional years to a maximum of $16,000.

CRITERIA:

The applicant must be planning to attend the UFV as a full-time student (9 post-secondary credits or more per semester) in the academic year immediately following their Grade 12 graduation.
The applicant must have already submitted an application for admission to UFV.
The applicant must have a high academic standing with an overall B average or 3.0 GPA in all Grade 12 courses (must include Provincial exams for English 12 and two other approved grade 12 courses).
The applicant must meet all entrance requirements and prerequisites for the UFV program that they have applied to.
The applicant must be able to demonstrate exceptional level of leadership, citizenship, determination and effort. They should also have made significant contributions to school life and have participated actively in the community.
This award is not available to students who will be receiving a UFV Excellence Entrance Scholarship for the same academic year.

UFV EXCELLENCE ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP

AMOUNT: $3,000 total - $1,500 towards tuition in the first semester and $1,500 towards tuition in the second semester (subject to successful completion of the first semester with an overall 3.0 GPA).

CRITERIA:
Available to students from high schools in UFV region. *

The applicant must be planning to attend UFV as a full-time student (9 post-secondary credits or more per semester) in the academic year immediately following their Grade 12 graduation.
The applicant must have already submitted an application for admission to UFV.
The applicant must have a high academic standing in Grade 12 academic courses (the minimum requirement is a B average or 3.0 GPA).
The applicant must meet all entrance requirements and prerequisites for the UFV program that they have applied to.
The applicant must be able to demonstrate a high level of leadership, determination, and effort. They should also have made significant contributions to school life and have participated actively in the community.
This award is not available to students who will be receiving a UFV President's Entrance Scholarship for the same academic year.

* High schools (both public and private) in the UFV region include those located in Abbotsford, Agassiz, Aldergrove, Boston Bar, Chilliwack, Hope, Langley, Maple Ridge, Mission, and Pitt Meadows.

UFV TRADES ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP

AMOUNT: 3 scholarships @ $2,000 each - $1,000 towards tuition in the first semester and $1,000 towards tuition in the second semester (subject to successful completion of the first semester).

CRITERIA:

The applicant must be planning to attend UFV as a full-time student in the academic year immediately following their Grade 12 graduation.
The applicant must submit an application for admission to UFV to any of the programs offered through UFV's Faculty of Trades and Technology.
The applicant must meet all entrance requirements for the UFV Trades and Technology program that they have applied to.
The applicant should have exhibited a high level of determination, effort and motivation for study in their selected trade.
This scholarship is not available to students who will be receiving another UFV Entrance Scholarship for the same academic year.

CANADIAN ASSOCIATION OF EQUIPMENT DISTRIBUTORS OF BC (CAEDBC) ANNUAL ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP

AMOUNT: $500

AVAILABLE TO: A student entering the Heavy Duty/Commercial Transport program.

CRITERIA

New UFV student (entering directly from high school)

The applicant must be planning to attend UFV as a full-time student in the academic year immediately following their Grade 12 graduation.
The applicant must submit an application for admission to UFV to the Heavy Duty/Commercial Transport program offered through UFV's Faculty of Trades and Technology.
The applicant must meet all entrance requirements for the UFV Trades and Technology program that they have applied to.
The applicant should have exhibited a high level of determination, effort and motivation for study in their selected trade.

New UFV student (not entering directly from high school)

The applicant must be planning to attend UFV as a full-time student.
The applicant must submit an application for admission to UFV to the Heavy Duty/Commercial Transport program offered through UFV's Faculty of Trades and Technology.
The applicant must meet all entrance requirements for the UFV Trades and Technology program that they have applied to.
The applicant should have exhibited a high level of determination, effort and motivation for study in their selected trade.

NOTE: If the award recipient within one year of graduation from the Heavy Duty/Commercial Transport program goes on to work for one of a select group of companies in the CAEDBC, whey will also receive a $750 tool gift certificate from CAEDBC for Lordco, Napa or Snap-On. As this portion of the award is coordinated directly by CAEDBC, the student recipient will be provded with their contact information to discuss this benefit further and to find out the list of applicable companies.

DR. FRANCIS PANG ENDOWMENT ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP

AMOUNT: $1,050 (The value of the award will fluctuate each year based on the endowment return.)

AVAILABLE TO: A student entering full-time studies at UFV in the Department of Computer Information Systems.

CRITIERIA:

New UFV student (entering directly from high school)

The applicant must be planning to attend UFV as a full-time student (9 post-secondary credits or more per semester) in the academic year immediately following their Grade 12 graduation.
The applicant must have already submitted an application for admission to the Department of Computer Information Systems at UFV.
The applicant must have a minimum B average (3.0 GPA) in their grade 12 courses.
The applicant must meet all entrance requirements and prerequisites for the UFV program that they have applied to.

New UFV student (not entering directly from high school)

The applicant must be planning to attend UFV as a full-time student (9 post-secondary credits or more per semester).
The applicant must have already submitted an application for admission to the Department of Computer Information Systems at UFV.
The applicant must have a minimum B average (3.0 GPA) on the most recently completed educational credtis.
The applicant must meet all entrance requirements and prerequisites for the UFV program that they have applied to.
Applicants must submit transcripts of previous grades.

G. W. GRAHAM ENDOWMENT ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP

AMOUNT: $1475

AVAILABLE TO: A student graduating from G.W. Graham Middle-Secondary School who is entering full-time studies at UFV.

CRITERIA:

The applicant must be planning to attend UFV as a full-time student (9 post-secondary credits or more per semester) in the academic year immediately following their Grade 12 graduation.
The applicant must have already submitted an application for admission to UFV.
The applicant must have a high academic standing in Grade 12 academic courses (the minimum requirement is a B average or 3.0 GPA).
The applicant must meet all entrance requirements and prerequisites for the UFV program that they have applied to.
The applicant must be able to demonstrate a high level of leadership, determination, and effort. They should also have made significant contributions to school life and have participated actively in the community.

HOLLISTER CRIMINAL JUSTICE ENDOWMENT ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP

Donated by Victor and Hilda Hollister

AMOUNT: $1,200

AVAILABLE TO: First preference will be given to a graduating student from a secondary school in the Mission School District who has been accepted to the Criminal Justice program at UFV. In the event that a suitable candidate is not available in a given year, the award may be presented to a student who resides in the Mission area and is currently enrolled in the UFV Criminal Justice diploma or degree program.

CRITERIA:

The applicant must be planning to attend UFV as a full-time student (9 post-secondary credits or more per semester) in the academic year immediately following their Grade 12 graduation from a secondary school in the Mission School District.
The applicant must have already submitted an application for admission to the Criminal Justice program at UFV.
The applicant must have a high academic standing in Grade 12 academic courses (the minimum requirement is a B average or 3.0 GPA).
The applicant must meet all entrance requirements and prerequisites for the UFV program that they have applied to.
The applicant must be able to demonstrate a high level of leadership, determination, and effort. They should also have made significant contributions to school life and have participated actively in the community.

HOLLISTER HEALTH DISCIPLINE ENDOWMENT ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP

Donated by Victor and Hilda Hollister

AMOUNT: $1,625 plus one-year tuition award at UFV.

AVAILABLE TO: A student graduating from a secondary school in the Mission School District who has been accepted into a health discipline program of studies at UFV. In the event that there is not a candidate that meets the above criteria, a student from Mission in any other year of a health discipline program at UFV will qualify.

CRITERIA:

The applicant must be planning to attend UFV as a full-time student (9 post-secondary credits or more per semester) in the academic year immediately following their Grade 12 graduation from a secondary school in the Mission School District..
The applicant must have already submitted an application for admission to UFV.
The applicant must have a high academic standing in Grade 12 academic courses (the minimum requirement is a B average or 3.0 GPA).
The applicant must meet all entrance requirements and prerequisites for the UFV program that they have applied to.

HOLLISTER SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ENDOWMENT ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPS

(Heritage Park Secondary and Riverside Trades, Training and Career Centre) - Donated by Victor and Hilda Hollister

AMOUNT: 2 @ $1,625 each and a one-year tuition award

AVAILABLE TO: A student graduating from a Mission high school who has been accepted into a full-time academic science or technology program at UFV. Preference given to a student graduating from Heritage Park Secondary for one award and a student graduating from Riverside Trades, Training and Career Centre for the other award. In the event that a suitable candidate is not available from one of the mentioned high schools a student from any Mission high school accepted into a full-time academic science or technology program at UFV will qualify.

CRITERIA:

The applicant must be planning to attend UFV as a full-time student (9 post-secondary credits or more per semester) in the academic year immediately following their Grade 12 graduation.
The applicant must have already submitted an application for admission to UFV.
The applicant must have a high academic standing in Grade 12 academic courses (the minimum requirement is a B average or 3.0 GPA).
The applicant must meet all entrance requirements and prerequisites for the UFV program that they have applied to.
The applicant must be able to demonstrate a high level of leadership, determination, and effort. They should also have made significant contributions to school life and have participated actively in the community.

HOLLISTER SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ENDOWMENT ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP

( Mission Secondary and Hatzic Secondary) - Donated by Victor and Hilda Hollister

AMOUNT: 2 @ $1,000 (from Mission Foundation) and a tuition award for one year (from UFV)

AVAILABLE TO: A student graduating from Mission Secondary and Hatzic Secondary who has been accepted into a full-time academic science or technology program at UFV.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

Students will apply in writing at their respective high schools.
Applicants will submit a letter outlining their education and career goals and a statement of academic achievement from their school
Applications will be forwarded from each high school to the Mission Foundation.
The recipient will be chosen by the Mission Foundation Awards Selection Committee
The awards will be presented at the appropriate annual school district event.

CRITERIA:

An outstanding student with a high grade point average
The student will have been accepted into a full-time academic science or technology program at UFV

IKE BARBER TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Ike Barber Transfer Scholarship program is open to students who, after completing two years of study at an eligible sending institution must transfer their credits into full-time studies at another public post-secondary institution in B.C to complete their degree.

AMOUNT: $5,000 (75 awarded annually)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

The scholarship will be awarded on a competitive basis to students who:

Are Canadian citizens, permanent residents (landed immigrants), convention refugees or protected persons living in Canada as defined in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
Are residents of British Columbia, defined as having one's primary residency at an address in the province for at least the past 12 consecutive months.
Have completed the equivalent of two years of full-time study in transferable courses at an eligible sending instituiton. (Two years is defined as successful completion of at least 54 credits, or equivalent, in transferable courses. Information on transferablility of credits is available online through the BC transfer Guide at www.bctransferguide.ca/.)
Have a cumulative GPA of the equivalent of at least 3.5 for the best of any 54 credits completed, regardless of whether the particular credits transfer into their specific program, as calculated by the sending intitution. Scholarship awards will be contingent upon confirmation of final grades. (To learn the equivalent of a 3.5 GPA at your institution, please contact your financial awards office.)
Have clearly demonstrated significant community and/or school involvement, supported by letters of reference submitted along with the application.

As well as the criteria listed above, supplementary conditions of eligibility will be confirmed after the selection process. Selected students will receive the award if, at the time of their enrolment at the receiving institution, they:

Are accepted into the program of study at the B.C. public degree-granting institution ("Receiving Institution") into which they are applying for admission as a transfer student; and
Are enrolled in full-time study at the Receiving Institution into which they transfer, based on a confirmation of enrolment that occurs during August and September. Full-time study is defined as 60 per cent of a full course load.

IKE BARBER TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM APPLICATION

KPMG AND ABBOTSFORD CHAMBER ENDOWMENT ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP

AMOUNT: $1,000

AVAILABLE TO: An applicant planning to attend UFV as a full-time student in the department of Business Administration. Student must enter the program in the academic year immediately following their Grade 12 graduation.

CRITERIA:

The applicant must be planning to attend UFV as a full-time student (9 post-secondary credits or more per semester) in the academic year immediately following their Grade 12 graduation.
The applicant must have already submitted an application for admission to UFV.
The applicant must have a high academic standing in Grade 12 academic courses (the minimum requirement is a B average or 3.0 GPA).
The applicant must meet all entrance requirements and prerequisites for the UFV program that they have applied to.
The applicant must be able to demonstrate a high level of leadership, determination, and effort. They should also have made significant contributions to school life and have participated actively in the community.

MACRO CORBIN MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT ENTRANCE AWARD

"Excellence is not an act, it is a habit." Marco Corbin, a renaissance man, exemplified this saying as he was an exceptional scholar, athlete, musician and performer. He was an inspiration to all those who knew him, impacting an entire community through his kindnes, compassion and talents. Marco, who passed away tragically at the age of 18, had been awarded a UFV entrance award and planned to purue the engineering transfer program in the fall of 2012.

AMOUNT: $500

AVAILABLE TO: A student entering the engineering transfer program, with preference given to one who also demonstrates leadership in athletics or music.

AMOUNT: $500

AVAILABLE TO: An applicant planning to attend UFV as a full-time student in the department of Computer Information Systems. Student must enter the program in the academic year immediately following their Grade 12 graduation. The student must demonstrate community service and/or volunteerism.

CRITERIA:

The applicant must be planning to attend UFV as a full-time student (9 post-secondary credits or more per semester) in the academic year immediately following their Grade 12 graduation.
The applicant must have already submitted an application for admission to UFV.
The applicant must have a high academic standing in Grade 12 academic courses (the minimum requirement is a B average or 3.0 GPA).
The applicant must meet all entrance requirements and prerequisites for the UFV program that they have applied to.
The applicant must be able to demonstrate a high level of leadership, determination, and effort. They should also have made significant contributions to school life and have participated actively in the community.

NEILL MACGREGOR MEMORIAL ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP

Donated by friends and family of the late Neill MacGregor. Neill MacGregor was a popular teacher, school trustee, and tireless promoter of agriculture and agricultural education. He worked in leadership roles with youth groups such as 4-H and Future Farmers of Canada.

AMOUNT: $750

AVAILABLE TO: A student graduating from any public or private secondary school in the Eastern UFV region including the communities and surrounding areas of Chilliwack, Agassiz-Harrison, and Hope.

CRITERIA:

Student must be admitted to full-time studies (minimum three courses) in the first year of an Agriculture program at UFV.
Student must demonstrate good academic standing.
First preference will be given to a student graduating in the year of the award from a secondary school in the Eastern UFV region. Secondary consideration will be a mature student residing in the area who has enrolled in the first year of a UFV Agriculture program. If there are no suitable applicants from the Eastern region, the scholarship may be awarded to a beginning student from elsewhere in the province.

PEARSON CANADA ANNUAL ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP

AMOUNT: $1,000 (can be divided into 2 @ $500 scholarships)

AVAILABLE TO: A student planning to attend UFV as a full-time student in the department of Business Administration. Student must enter the program in the academic year immediately following their Grade 12 graduation.

CRITERIA:

The applicant must be planning to attend UFV as a full-time student (9 post-secondary credits or more per semester) in the academic year immediately following their Grade 12 graduation.

QUANTUM PROPERTIES ENTRANCE ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR WOMEN IN THE FACULTY OF TRADES & TECHNOLOGY

AMOUNT: $1,000

AVAILABLE TO: A female planning to attend UFV as a full-time student and is registered in a trades program that females do not traditionaly pursue. (i.e. Architectural Drafting, Carpentry, Plumbing & Piping, Joinery, Welding). Student must enter the program in the academic year immediately following their Grade 12 graduation. The applicant must have a minimum B average (3.0 GPA) in their grade 12 courses.

CRITERIA:

The applicant must be planning to attend UFV as a full-time student in the academic year immediately following their Grade 12 graduation.
The applicant must submit an application for admission to UFV to any of the programs offered through UFV's Faculty of Trades and Technology.
The applicant must meet all entrance requirements for the UFV Trades and Technology program that they have applied to.

VAN REEUWYK FAMILY ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP IN TRADES

AMOUNT: $1,725 (The value of the award will fluctuate each year depending on the return of the endowment investment).

AVAILABLE TO: Students who are entering a full-time program in the UFV Faculty of Trades and Technology

New UFV student (entering directly from high school)

The applicant must be planning to attend UFV as a full-time student in the academic year immediately following their Grade 12 graduation.
