UCFV-administered bursaries - Bursaries listed may be subject to change UCFV administered bursaries are non-repayable grants offered to students who: - demonstrate genuine financial need
- have exhausted all other types of funding (i.e., work, government or bank student assistance programs)
- enrolled in a UCFV program at a post-secondary level
- show satisfactory academic achievement (2.0 GPA or better)
- meet the criteria of the bursaries applied for and making sure that all documentation required is submitted with the bursary application.
One application per academic year. Applications will be accepted between September 15 and up to March 15. Funds are limited and may be exhausted before March 15. Apply early. ABBOTSFORD KINSMEN - KELLY LENIHAN MEMORIAL BURSARY - to honour a member of the Abbotsford Kinsmen's Club, who died tragically in a motor vehicle accident. AMOUNT: $500 AVAILABLE TO: A full-time student in a diploma or degree program, which will lead to a career in the helping professions including social Services, Early Childhood Education/Child and Youth Care, Adult Education, or Nursing. ABBOTSFORD QUILTERS GUILD AWARD AMOUNT: $500 (one available) To be awarded Jan 30. AVAILABLE TO: A UCFV student enrolled in the Fashion Design program pursuing courses in the Textiles Option and registered in a minimum of 3 courses. Applicant must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant. APPLY TO: UCFV Student Financial Aid Services (UCFV Bursary application) NOTE: Applications will be accepted between September 15 and up to March 15. CRITERIA: The recipient of this award must be registered in a Fashion Design - Textile option course during the Fall semester and be returning for the Winter semester. The successful applicant will have attained a B grade or better in the textile option course and three other fashion courses. Student must also demonstrate financial need. STIPULATIONS: Applicant must submit a general UCFV Bursary Application form. This will include a letter outlining their career and educational goals, as well as an explanation on how the award will assist the attainment of these goals.
BETTY URQUHART BURSARY AMOUNT: Varies (approx. $900) AVAILABLE TO: A mature student residing in Chilliwack, Agassiz, or Hope who is continuing full-time studies in a UCFV program that leads to a diploma or degree. APPLY TO: UCFV Student Financial Aid Services (UCFV Bursary application) NOTE: Applications will be accepted between September 15 and up to March 15. Funds are limited and may be exhausted before March 15. Apply early. STIPULATIONS: Preference will be given to applicants with a good academic standing who present evidence of volunteer community support work and involvement over the past three years. Financial need will also be an important consideration. Applicants should submit a letter which describes their career and educational goals along with their application. Applicants should also complete the financial budget, and provide a record of academic achievement.
B.C. LUNG ASSOCIATION NURSING BURSARY AMOUNT: $1,000 or 2 at $500 each AVAILABLE TO: A worthy second-year nursing student who is in good academic standing in the program and who is in financial need. BRANT JOHN BORDEWICK CAMPIONI MEMORIAL BURSARY - established in memory of Brant Campioni who graduated from the Coastal Pacific Aviation/UCFV Business diploma program in 1993, and was tragically killed in an air accident in 2002. Aviation thrilled, inspired and challenged Brant, this bursary commemorates his spirit, as well as his love for life and the aviation industry. AMOUNT: $500 AVAILABLE TO: A full-time student enrolled in the Bachelor of Business Administration in Aviation program or the Aviation Diploma. CHILLIWACK FOUNDATION BURSARIES AMOUNT: Varies (approx. 10 @ $1000) AVAILABLE TO: Full-time UCFV students enrolled in a minimum of 3 courses, who reside in the Chilliwack, Agassiz, Harrison or Hope area. APPLY TO: UCFV Student Financial Aid Services (UCFV Bursary application) NOTE: Applications will be accepted between September 15 and up to March 15. Funds are limited and may be exhausted before March 15. Apply early. STIPULATIONS: - Enrolled in a program, which can lead to a certificate, diploma or degree.
- Must identify vocational or academic goals.
- Students who, along with their families, where possible, are contributing towards their educational costs.
- Applicants must demonstrate genuine financial need.
- Must show satisfactory academic achievement or potential for satisfactory achievement (2.0 GPA or better).
- Must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant.
CONTINUING STUDIES BURSARY AMOUNT: Up to $1000 per year (several available - limited funds) AVAILABLE TO: Students who have B.C. Secondary School graduation or equivalent, 19 years of age or older and who are taking courses leading to employment through UCFV Continuing Studies. APPLY TO: UCFV Student Financial Aid Services (Continuing Studies Bursary application) DEADLINE: Ongoing as funds permit. STIPULATIONS: Applicants must be enrolling in Continuing Studies courses, and must demonstrate high financial need to be eligible for funding.
CREDIT UNION FOUNDATION OF BRITISH COLUMBIA BURSARIES AMOUNT: Up to $800 (limited funds) AVAILABLE TO: Student or students who might otherwise have difficulty completing their studies by reason of financial hardship. HAZEL McIVOR MEMORIAL BURSARY AMOUNT: $350 (for tuition, books, and supplies) AVAILABLE TO: Any student who wishes to pursue full-time studies at UCFV in Applied Business Technology, Legal Secretary or a related field.
