STIPULATIONS: Candidates must hold Canadian citizenship or landed immigrant status. They must be registered full-time in a masters program in the area of agricultural business, economics, finance or trade and be enrolled in their graduate program until at least one semester beyond the application deadline. Previous recipients of this scholarship are not eligible for a second award. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of (not necessarily placed in order of importance): academic achievement, areas of study, leadership, and career interests.


ALUMNI ASSOCIATION GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP
AMOUNT:  $500

AVAILABLE TO:  Presented to a UFV Alumni pursuing Graduate Studies.

DEADLINE:  May 10.

STIPULATIONS:

  • Minimum of 2.67 cumulative GPA or letter
  • Persons should demonstrate a financial need for furthering their studies;
  • Persons must have demonstrated excellence in performance and/or leadership ability in their community;
  • Student wishing to complete graduate studies either full-time or part-time;
  • Studies may be undertaken at any accredited educational institution either within or outside British Columbia;
  • Applicant must be a UFV Alumni;

 APPLICATION MUST CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING:

  • Students must also provide a letter that identifies their career path including identified objectives or long-term career goals;
  • Explains why they chose their area of study;
  • Proof of minimum GPA requirements;
  • Notes any involvement they have with UFV and/or the community outside of their area of study;
  • Proof of acceptance into a field of studies at a graduate level.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:  The recipient will be chosen by the Alumni Association Board of Directors.

The National Winner: An additional $10,000 and a one-year paid internship at Magna International Inc, valued at $50,000.

AVAILABLE TO:  Students who are pursuing a Master’s degree in a health related field in Canada

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident;
  • At the time of the CIHR deadline for application (February 1st), you must:
  • Have completed or be in the last year of a Bachelor’s degree; or,
  • Have been registered for no more than ten months as a full-tome student in a Master’s program; or,

Scholarships offered to Children of CN Employees

CN offers scholarships to children of CN employees and pensioners. The scholarships are available to first-year undergraduate or first-year graduate students and are not renewable. Candidates are selected on the basis of their academic standing, references and extra-curricular activities.

STIPULATIONS: Applicants must be enrolled in a degree granting post-secondary institution such as a university or community/university college (excluding pre-university program such as CEGEPS). Projects submitted must be in their final stages, funding is not for the creation stage of the project but rather for the final production and the public presentation of the project. The Arts council's decision will be based on the project's merit and innovation. All projects must be aimed at adult audiences, which are 19 years of age or older. The public presentation of the project must take place in Canada between July 1 and June 30

INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL FOR CANADIAN STUDIES – GRADUATE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS

AMOUNT:  Up to $3,500 Cdn for all expenses

AVAILABLE TO:  Students in the social sciences or humanities who are in the process of preparing a graduate thesis or doctoral dissertation of Canada

ELIGIBILITY:

The student must be at the thesis or dissertation stage;

The student must have obtained in writing the support of a faculty member at a Canadian university who has agreed to act as the student’s academic sponsor during the tenure of his/her award. The sponsor will act in an informal capacity and will arrange for library privileges, contacts with other faculty and students, and generally try to facilitate the student’s research. The academic sponsor will not be expected to act in the role of supervisor.

CRITERIA:

  • The clarity of the proposal and its methodology;
  • The proposal’s potential contribution to knowledge and/or to its field;
  • The likelihood of the project’s being accomplished during the period of the award;
  • The demonstrated need for the research to be carried out in Canada
  • The strength of the letter of support;
  • The past academic awards as demonstrated by transcripts, awards, and distinctions.

LEONARD FOUNDATION (THE)

AMOUNT:

The value of the award is usually $1,000.00 for those who are not required to set up a second residence to attend university and $1,500.00 for those who do. These amounts may vary according to the final decisions of the General Committee. Approximately 130 awards are made annually.

ELIGIBILITY:

  1. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants and registered in a Canadian University or a college affiliated thereto. The university must be a member of the Association of Colleges and Universities in Canada (AUCC) and have a policy of unrestricted access except for academic standing.
  2. Only students enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree program are eligible except for those pursuing a degree required to be licensed for a profession. These include a MD, B.Ed or M Div. No other graduate programs are eligible.
  3. All applicants will be considered but preference will be given to daughters or sons of ordained clergy, licensed elementary or secondary school teachers, Canadian military personnel, graduates of a
  4. Canadian Military College , members of the Engineering Institute of Canada and members of the Mining and Metallurgical Institute of Canada. Preference is also given to those who have previously received an award from The Leonard Foundation.

To apply, print an Application Form from the Leonard Foundation web site. Your Form should not only be completed in its entirety but must also be clearly legible, especially name and address, otherwise, mail will not reach you.

Is a nationally registered charity with a mandate to provide financial support to Aboriginal individuals who are pursuing education and professional development.  First Nations Awards Fine Arts Scholarship Program   

AMOUNT: Varies.

AVAILABLE TO: All Canadian resident Aboriginal people: First Nations status and non-status, Metis and Inuit.

ELIGIBLE FIELDS OF STUDY: All areas related to the visual, performing, media, graphic and literary arts.

 

ELIGIBLE PROGRAMS OF STUDY:

  • Undergraduate and graduate studies in music, theatre, dance, arts administration, stage management, sound engineering and other creative pursuits that support fine arts activities.
  • All programs including private and group instruction in ballet, singing and music lessons; fine arts degree and certificate programs; advanced training and professional development.
  • Apprenticeships, internships and on-the-job training with museums, theatres, galleries, cultural or media centres are eligible for funding, provided the student has received formal instruction in the internship field, prior to the internship itself. Example: a graduate of an Arts Administration program entering an internship in theatre production or a curatorial studies graduate training in a museum.
  • Marketing studies and such other studies that promote the self-employment and entrepreneurial skills of the artist.

    AMOUNT: $50,000 per year for up to four years.

    AVAILABLE TO: Students enrolled or enrolling in a doctorate in the social sciences and humanities.

    ELIGIBILITY:

    1. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants.
    2. Must be pursuing full-time doctoral studies in Canada, and exceptionally to Canadians pursuing full-time doctoral studies at foreign institutions.
    3. Must be applying into the first year of a doctoral programme, or must be registered in the first or second year of such a programme.
    4. Will be considered by the Foundation only if they have been nominated by a university.
    5. Must be enrolled in or must have completed a degree programme at the nominating institution, or must be enrolled in or applying to a doctoral programme there.

    UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA ENTRANCE AWARDS FOR STUDENTS TRANSFERRING FROM A REGIONAL COLLEGE

    Students transferring to UBC from a college or university who have an overall admission GPA of 3.8 or better will qualify for $2500. The average is calculated on final grades and a minimum or 27 transferable credits are required. Students who already hold a degree and intend to transfer to UBC to complete a second degree are not eligible for this award.
